A new boy, Dan, joins Miffy's class, but everyone starts calling him “Lop-ear” because one of his ears will not stand up. When Miffy discovers that Daan does not like being called that, she comes up with a plan. She tells the class they should simply call him “Daan”, because “Lop-ear” is really an unkind word. Miffy is proud of her idea, especially when the next time Daan walks onto the playground everyone calls out “Hi, Daan!”.
